Background and Past

Yamato, the daughter of the Four Emperors Kaido, was groomed from a young age to be his successor. However, at the age of 8, during the execution of Kouzuki Oden, She developed a deep admiration for this great samurai. Following the destruction of Kuri Castle, She discovered Oden’s journal near a river, sparking a desire to become the second coming of Oden. Assuming his identity, She views themselves as a son, a belief embraced by Kaido and his crew.

The conflicting desire to be Oden led to Yamato’s imprisonment on Onigashima for a significant part of their life. After befriending Portgas D. Ace during his visit to Wano, She sought to escape the island with Ace but was unsuccessful.

Following Ace’s death, She awaited Luffy’s appearance to aid in toppling their father. Dreaming of breaking free from Wano’s confinement, She aspires to set sail with the Straw Hat Pirates, mirroring Oden’s journey with the Whitebeard and Roger crews decades ago. Their goals include opening Wano’s borders and directly challenging Kaido’s oppressive rule.

Appearance and Personality

Standing at a towering 263 cm, Yamato’s height is quite imposing for an average woman. Long white hair gradually transitioning to blue, tied into a ponytail, accompanies a pair of round orange eyes with long eyelashes. Notably, She sports prominent red horns atop their head.

Personality-wise, She is an immensely determined individual, constantly resisting their father’s control. Engaging in multiple confrontations with Kaido, She openly opposes and challenges his plans. During the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance’s invasion of Onigashima, She readily supports them, even attacking members of their father’s crew. Prepared to go to great lengths to achieve their goals, Yamato is also willing to sacrifice themselves for those they care about, reflecting a belief in Oden’s unwavering loyalty to comrades.

Yamato’s power

Yamato’s exceptional combat prowess prompted Black Maria to warn that bringing her back to Kaido’s fortress after escaping would be an incredibly challenging task. In a past battle, Yamato held their ground against Ace, a Logia Devil Fruit user with formidable power. Ace himself acknowledged Yamato’s strength, expressing disbelief that such a powerful individual wouldn’t be a captain and expressing disappointment when Yamato couldn’t join his crew.

During the Onigashima raid, Yamato directly confronted their father, with Kaido recognizing their physical strength and value as a warrior. Despite not gaining the upper hand against Kaido, She successfully prevented him from joining the battle until Luffy returned, even managing to inflict injuries on Kaido.

Yamato’s Devil Fruit

The question of Yamato’s Devil Fruit has intrigued many viewers due to its formidable abilities. Yamato possesses the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. This allows Yamato to transform into a wolf or a half-human, half-wolf hybrid, enhancing their physical strength. The fruit also grants Yamato the ability to manipulate ice, enabling the creation of ice armor or barriers for defense, as well as unleashing powerful ice streams from their mouth to counter Kaido’s fire.

According to Kaido, this Devil Fruit is the “Guardian Deity of Wano Country,” making Yamato’s consumption of it a result of desperation rather than choice.

Haki

Yamato stands among the few individuals in the One Piece world capable of using all three forms of Haki. Their Armament Haki is wielded seamlessly, demonstrated when Yamato enveloped their hand and weapon with it during an attack on Hatcha, creating a thunderous effect with a powerful punch. Yamato can also use Armament Haki to attack Logia Devil Fruit users, as evidenced by successfully injuring Ace in their initial encounter.

In terms of Conqueror’s Haki, She displayed advanced mastery during their childhood, incapacitating many of their father’s subordinates while running through Onigashima. As an adult, Yamato showcased the advanced Conqueror’s Haki technique Raimei Hakke, causing their kanabo to emit dark lightning-like tendrils.

Weapon

She wields a colossal kanabo named Takeru, reminiscent of Kaido’s Hassaikai. Combined with Yamato’s strength and Haki, Takeru can deliver tremendous damage with a single strike. Despite its size and weight, Yamato handles the kanabo with incredible proficiency, effortlessly deflecting Luffy’s rapid attacks.
