History

Wano Country Arc

During the festival that took place one week after the Raid on Onigashima, Sennorikyuru was put in charge of preparing honzen-ryōri for Shogun Kozuki Momonosuke and his guests, the Straw Hat Pirates. However, because it took him two hours to prepare the meal, everyone except Jinbe had left by the time it was complete.

Trivia

• His name is likely derived from Sen no Rikyū, a tea master who had a profound influence on chanoyu, the “Japanese Way of Tea”, particularly the tradition of wabi-cha.
  • The additional syllable –ru may be a pun on “liqueur” (リキュール, rikyūru^?).
